This page provides links to pages with information on the voting records of Colorado's Congressional delegation, state legislature, and governor on CHVL's high-priority legislation. CHVL monitors and works on animal-related legislation and also, starting in 2001, for the state legislature and governor, legislation related to the petition process.

Scorecards for the United States Congress

Given that CHVL is an all-volunteer group with limited resources and several national animal-advocacy groups rate members of Congress on animal-related issues, we currently refer readers to the Project Vote Smart web site, which lists several groups' ratings of Colorado's Congressional delegation.

To see the ratings, follow these steps.
  1. Go to the Project Vote Smart home page.
  2. Navigate to the main page for the politician you want scores for.
    • If you know the name of the politician, type the person's last name in the "Enter Last Name of Candidate or Official" field in the in the "Find Your Representative" section on the home page and select "Go".
      • If the search result displays a menu of names, select the desired name. The specific Project Vote Smart page for the selected politician should appear.
    • If you don't know the name of the politician, type your nine-digit ZIP code in the "Enter Your 9-Digit ZIP Code" field in the in the "Find Your Representative" section on the home page and select "Go". Project Vote Smart also provides a link for you to use to find your nine-digit ZIP code in case you don't know it.
      • In the list of your elected representatives, select the name of the politican in question.
  3. On the main page for the selected politician, from the menu at the right select "Interest Group Ratings".
  4. In the resulting display of ratings, locate the "Animal Rights and Wildlife Issues" section.
Note: Although the heading says "Animal Rights", the groups listed are general animal advocates, not specifically animal-rights advocates.
  5. If you want more information about a specific group or score, please visit the group's web site. The PVS "Interest Group Ratings" page provides links to the groups' web sites.
