Highlights from this race:

Wayne Allard (Republican Party) is the incumbent for this office. The current Congress (107th Congress) is still in progress, but his animal-related voting record to date is 33%. During the 106th Congress, his score was 50% with one pro-animal piece of legislation sponsored and two pieces co-sponsored.
During both Congresses (106th and 107th), Senator Allard sponsored a bill to close a loophole in the Animal Welfare Act that allowed interstate shipment of birds for fighting purposes. This bill would be a huge help to law enforcers when they attempt to stop illegal cockfighting. Senator Allard's strong leadership was the main reason that this bill was finally passed as an amendment to the Farm Bill. PVA sincerely thanks Senator Allard for this effort. If he is re-elected we will look forward to his taking a leadership role on future legislation to protect animals.
