About Us
Colorado Humane Voters League (CHVL) is a Colorado network organized specifically to
support animals and the people who care about them in the political arena
at all levels of government. CHVL is an all-volunteer organization.
Colorado Humane Voters League is a 501(c)(4) non-profit corporation. CHVL has
no membership dues and is funded strictly by private contributions. Because
of our tax status, contributions to CHVL are not tax deductible.
You don't have to be old enough to vote to join CHVL, but we do ask that
you support our mission by responding to our action alerts. Whether or not
you are old enough to vote, you are entitled to contact the politicians
who represent you in city, county, state, and federal government.

CHVL Legislation Alerts
One of CHVL's primary functions is to inform members about proposed animal-related
legislation. Although we do send newsletters and scorecard and election information
to all of our members, our most efficient and effective
means of providing legislation alerts is by e-mail. Because of time constraints, for
legislation alerts we usually contact only our e-mail members.
When a bill is introduced in the state legislature, CHVL analyzes the bill and
assigns it a priority.
At critical points in the legislative process, we send an alert to our e-mail
members (sign up here). We tell them whether we support or oppose the bill, give brief
background information about the bill, and provide contact information
for the appropriate elected representative(s).
These alerts are intended to help members make informed decisions
about legislation that affects animals so that they can tell their
legislators how they want the legislators to vote.
